Munchies Review
Munchie Strips Review: What's in the Munchies Strip, What the Research Shows, and the Price per Night
A clean, tested, stimulant-free strip. The doses are the problem.
Munchies Strip is a stimulant-free, berry-flavored oral strip with 10 mg saffron extract, 75 mcg chromium and 10 mcg molybdenum, taken about 15 minutes before you smoke, vape or take an edible. The label is clean and the brand publishes a lab certificate for the current batch. The problem is the doses: the saffron and chromium trials it leans on used roughly 8 to 17 times more, every day, for 8 weeks.
Below: what's in a strip, what each ingredient's research measured, the brand's claims checked one at a time, the price per night, how it scores on our rubric, and what we'd pick instead. If you're comparing every munchies product at once, our ranked list of anti-munchies supplements covers the whole shelf, and our six label checks before you buy a craving supplement apply to this tin too.
What's in a Munchies Strip
Each Munchies Strip contains three actives: saffron extract (Crocus sativus) at 10 mg, chromium as Chromax chromium picolinate at 75 mcg, and molybdenum as an Albion glycinate chelate at 10 mcg. We read the label, FAQ and certificate of analysis on the brand's product page on October 26, 2026.
- Other ingredients: pullulan, cellulose, malic acid, sorbitol syrup, lecithin, mixed berry flavor and steviol glycoside (stevia).
- Calories: the brand lists 0 calories and 0 carbs per strip.
- Tin: 30 strips, suggested use one a day, about 15 minutes before a session.
- Stimulants: none. No caffeine, and no CB1 blocker, so it isn't designed to change the high.
Credit where it's due: the brand posts batch-level lab results. The certificate for lot KIMH2504 shows saffron at 99.9% of claim, chromium at 105.3% and molybdenum at 101.2%, with heavy metals and microbes under the listed limits and a 43-second dissolve time. Most products in this aisle publish nothing like that.
Does Munchies Strip work? What the ingredient research measured
Munchies Strip itself has no published trial, so the honest answer comes from trials on its ingredients, and those trials used much larger daily doses over weeks, not one small dose before a session.
Saffron: a snacking trial at 17 times the dose
The saffron trial most often cited for snacking used 176.5 mg of a saffron extract a day, split into two capsules, for 8 weeks. In 60 mildly overweight women, snacking frequency fell more on saffron than on placebo, and weight dropped more too (Gout et al., 2010). A strip has 10 mg, about a seventeenth of that daily amount, and the trial was on a branded extract (Satiereal) that may not match the one in the strip.
The wider saffron picture is softer. A 2022 meta-analysis of 25 randomized trials in people with overweight or obesity found no significant change in weight (0.32 kg) or waist size from saffron, though waist-to-hip ratio did shift (Tahmasbi et al., 2022). None of those trials studied cannabis users.
Chromium: the food-intake trial used 1,000 mcg
The chromium study that directly measured how much people ate gave 42 overweight women with carbohydrate cravings 1,000 mcg of chromium picolinate a day for 8 weeks. Measured food intake, hunger and fat cravings all fell compared with placebo (Anton et al., 2008). A strip carries 75 mcg, about a thirteenth.
A second trial, in 113 adults with atypical depression, used 600 mcg of chromium a day and found improvements on appetite, increased eating and carbohydrate craving items, mainly in people who craved carbs heavily (Docherty et al., 2005). That's 8 times the strip's dose, in a very different group.
Molybdenum: no appetite research we could find
Molybdenum is an essential trace mineral that enzymes need, and the brand's own FAQ describes it only as supporting enzyme activity. We found no human research on molybdenum and appetite or snacking.
The brand's claims, checked
Munchies Strip's marketing makes five specific claims, and two of them don't line up with the brand's own page.
- "Lasts your whole session (6 to 8 hrs)." The same page's timeline says effects taper at 2 to 4 hours as the ingredients are metabolized. Both can't be the headline, and we found no data on the strip's duration.
- "Direct absorption into your bloodstream." The strip dissolves on the tongue in under a minute. We found no absorption data for this strip, and a dissolved strip is mostly swallowed like anything else.
- "Doesn't block or reduce your high." Plausible. Nothing in the formula acts on cannabinoid receptors.
- The survey and the ratings. The brand cites a survey of 2,000+ customers and a 4.8 rating from 15,839 ratings, labeled as internal studies and customer feedback. Neither is a controlled trial, and we can't verify either figure.
- The THC mechanism. The page says THC makes food more rewarding while fullness signals get harder to hear, which matches the research we summarized on why weed makes you hungry. In one NIH crossover study of 20 cannabis users, GLP-1 ran lower under cannabis than placebo, though the change over time was only a trend (Farokhnia et al., 2020). A strip that adds no fullness signal of its own doesn't address that half of the problem.
One more thing about hormone claims in this aisle. Blood GLP-1 is broken down within minutes, and a 2014 comparison found commercial GLP-1 assays disagreed badly with each other (Bak et al., 2014). So we don't hold any product to a blood-hormone result. We weigh the dose against the human trials on each ingredient, and that's where this strip comes up short.
Munchies Strip price per night
Munchies Strip costs $1.50 a strip for a single 30-strip tin at $45, and $1.00 a strip in the 3-tin pack at $90. Those were the sale prices on October 26, 2026, listed against a $65 regular price per tin, which would work out to about $2.17 a strip.
The brand offers a 30-day money-back guarantee: the page says that if your munchies aren't noticeably calmer within 30 days, it will refund you. Check the return terms before you open a bundle.
Munchies Strip on our five-axis rubric
Munchies Strip scores 16 out of 25 on the rubric we use for every product: top marks for disclosure and a good format, held back by doses too small to match the evidence. Scored on the published Crave Crushers methodology:
| Axis (out of 5) | Munchies Strip | Ozzi Crave Crusher |
|---|---|---|
| Pathway coverage | 2 | 5 |
| Ingredients and dose disclosure | 5 | 4 |
| Science | 2 | 4 |
| Value | 3 | 4 |
| Format and timing | 4 | 4 |
| Total | 16 | 21 |
The strip beats most of the shelf on disclosure: all three actives have a stated amount, and the brand posts a batch certificate. It loses on science because the doses sit far below the trials, and on coverage because saffron and chromium touch snacking urges but add nothing for fullness. Value lands in the middle: cheap per night, but you're paying for doses that the research doesn't support.
Who Munchies Strip suits, and who should skip it
Munchies Strip suits people who want something tiny, sugar-free and stimulant-free to take before a session, and who mostly want a ritual that reminds them not to graze. At $1.00 to $1.50 a night it's a low-cost experiment, and the guarantee lowers the risk further.
Skip it if you want an ingredient dose that matches a human trial, your munchies are real hunger rather than boredom grazing, or you already take chromium or a blood sugar medication (ask your pharmacist first). If you were considering THCV gummies instead, read what the THCV studies measured before you buy, because swallowed THCV peaks hours after the munchies start. And timing matters for any pre-session product, since edibles take far longer to kick in than a joint.
The alternative we'd pick
Our pick over Munchies Strip is the Ozzi Crave Crusher drink, which scores 21 out of 25 on the same rubric. It has six named actives at disclosed doses: 8 g allulose, 500 mg L-lysine butyrate, 500 mg konjac glucomannan, chromium, ursolic acid and African mango. That covers fullness, blood sugar and GLP-1 signaling rather than snacking urges alone, it carries 4 times the chromium of a strip, and it's caffeine-free, so it fits an evening session.
Its cons are real. There's no published trial on the finished Ozzi formula, its doses are moderate by design, some people notice the natural butyrate smell, and it costs more per night than a strip. It's also a drink you prepare, not a strip you keep in your pocket.
Disclosure: Ozzi sponsors Crave Crushers, and we may earn a commission on purchases made through links on this page. Rankings come from the published rubric on our methodology page, and Ozzi's downsides are listed on the same terms as every other product's.
Our verdict on Munchies Strip
Munchies Strip is an honest-looking product with a weak core: a clean, tested, stimulant-free strip whose saffron and chromium sit at a fraction of the doses that changed snacking or food intake in trials, and whose 6 to 8 hour claim conflicts with its own 2 to 4 hour timeline. If a cheap pre-session ritual helps you stop at one snack, it may earn its keep. Don't buy it expecting the trial results it cites.
