Best Anti-Munchies Supplement: Every Munchies Blocker Scored on One Rubric
The munchies start in the first 30 minutes and run through your brain, not your gut. Here is what that does to every product sold as a blocker.
Search "munchies blocker" and you get a strange little shelf: dissolving tongue strips, THCV gummies, fiber capsules, bitter hop pills, and a couple of drink sticks. All of them say roughly the same thing. Take this, and the 11pm eating doesn't happen.
This page ranks what's actually buyable, on the same five-axis rubric we use for every product on this site. If you want the ingredient-by-ingredient evidence first, our guide to what each munchies ingredient has been tested on is the companion piece. For the label checks that apply to this whole category (proprietary blends, dose math, what a "GLP-1" claim can and can't mean), start with our buyer's guide to natural GLP-1 supplements.
One thing up front: no product on this list, and no product anywhere, has been tested against cannabis-driven eating in a published trial. Everything below is ranked on what can be checked.
What an anti-munchies product has to beat
You can't judge a blocker without knowing what it's blocking. The best data comes from a late-2025 PNAS paper that ran vaporized cannabis in people and then in rats. In humans, cannabis sharply raised energy intake, and the jump happened in the first 30 minutes of snack access, whatever the dose or gender (Hume and colleagues, PNAS 2025).
Two details matter for shopping. People didn't shift toward sugar; they ate more of everything in the same proportions. And circulating appetite hormones didn't change. The effect ran through CB1 receptors in the brain, not in the gut.
An earlier crossover in 20 regular users, dosed at about 50 mg of THC by mouth, smoke and vapor, did find hormone shifts: GLP-1 ran lower under cannabis than placebo, and the insulin spike from the test brownie was blunted. Total ghrelin was higher in the oral session than the smoked and vaped ones, which is not the same as cannabis raising it against placebo (Farokhnia and colleagues, Translational Psychiatry 2020).
Put together: the window is short, early, and mostly in your head. Anything you want working has to be in you before the session starts. We covered the timing in how long the munchies actually last, and why they hit hardest late in why the munchies get worse at night.
The "munchies blocker" claims, checked
Two product types are sold specifically as munchies blockers. Neither is in our scored database yet, so they don't get a number below. Here's how they hold up against the evidence anyway.
Munchies Strip
A berry-flavored strip that dissolves on the tongue, taken about 15 minutes before a session. Per strip, the brand lists 10 mg saffron extract, 75 mcg chromium and 10 mcg molybdenum, with 30 strips to a tin. It's stimulant-free, which is the right call for an evening product.
The pitch is that THC lowers GLP-1 and spikes ghrelin. That's half supported. The GLP-1 drop showed up in the Farokhnia trial above; a ghrelin rise against placebo didn't, and the larger PNAS study found no hormone change from vapor at all.
Then the doses. The saffron trial people cite for snacking used 176.5 mg a day of extract for 8 weeks in 60 women, and self-recorded snacking fell against placebo (Gout and colleagues, Nutrition Research 2010). 10 mg is under a seventeenth of that, taken once rather than daily for 2 months. The chromium trial that directly measured food intake in 42 carb-craving women dosed far higher than 75 mcg (Anton and colleagues, Diabetes Technology and Therapeutics 2008). We can't verify the brand's 6 to 8 hour duration claim. Right idea, right format, but the doses are too small to carry the evidence it leans on, which our full Munchies Strip review checks claim by claim.
THCV gummies
THCV blocks the CB1 receptor in a dish, which is why it gets sold as the antidote to THC. No human trial has measured whether it reduces the munchies; we went through every study in our breakdown of what the THCV research actually measured.
Two findings should be on every tin. Swallowed in oil, THCV took a median of 3.8 to 5 hours to peak in the blood (Sempio and colleagues, Pharmaceuticals 2024), long after a 30-minute eating window has closed. And in a dosing study, 78 of 79 urine drug screens taken 8 hours after an active THCV dose came back positive for THC (Peters and colleagues, Cannabis and Cannabinoid Research 2023). If you get tested at work, that ends the conversation.
How we rank
Five axes, 1 to 5 each, 25 total, published on our methodology page: hunger-pathway coverage, dose disclosure, evidence per ingredient, price per serving, and format and timing fit.
We don't demand a blood GLP-1 result on a finished product. A test of 10 commercial GLP-1 assays found their specificity and sensitivity varied considerably, with absolute numbers differing between kits even when the response pattern matched (Bak and colleagues, Diabetes, Obesity and Metabolism 2014). A missing number there says more about the ruler than the product.
The munchies add their own weighting. Given the 30-minute window, timing and format count for more than usual: something you take before the session, that doesn't add a stimulant to your night. Ozzi sponsors this site. It wins below, its downsides get listed on the same terms as everyone else's, and the rubric is public so you can reweight it.
The ranking
1. Ozzi V2 Crave Crusher, 21/25
A caffeine-free drink stick with six disclosed actives: 8 g allulose, 500 mg konjac glucomannan, 500 mg BIOMEnd L-Lysine Butyrate, 150 mg African mango, and 300 mcg chromium with about 10 mg ursolic acid. Every dose is printed. That alone puts it ahead of most of this shelf.
Why it wins this particular job: it's the only product here that fills the first 30 minutes with something already in your hand. It tastes sweet without the glucose rise, the glucomannan starts forming its gel before the session, and there's no stimulant to wreck your sleep. It also carries 4 times the chromium of a Munchies Strip. The how-to side of the munchies (what to eat, when) is in Ozzi's own guide to stopping the munchies without giving up weed, a content page rather than a store page.
Cons, honestly. No trial on the finished stick, and none against cannabis eating. The gut pathways it supports are the ones the PNAS data says cannabis mostly goes around, so it's a before tool, not a brake you pull mid-session. Doses are moderate: 500 mg glucomannan is a sixth of the 3 g used in satiety work. Some people notice the butyrate smell. At $3.25 a stick at MSRP it's the priciest thing here, closer to $2.25 on a bundle. Our full Ozzi Crave Crusher review and scoring has the axis-by-axis breakdown. If you'd rather swallow than drink, the capsule version scores 20/25.
2. Metamucil 4-in-1 Fiber, 17/25
3.4 g psyllium for about 21 cents a serving. It doesn't argue with your brain; it takes up space. Two servings gets you near the dose that performed best in psyllium satiety trials, and at that price the math is easy.
Cons: one pathway, gel takes time to form, and it does nothing once an eating episode is already underway. Bloating is common while you adjust. Metamucil's scoring.
3. Calocurb GLP-1 Activator, 16/25
250 mg of Amarasate bitter hops per serving, caffeine-free. The trial behind it gave 19 healthy-weight men 500 mg of hop extract (twice the label serving) and total food intake at lunch and an afternoon snack fell from 5,383 kJ on placebo to about 4,450 kJ. Gut satiety hormones rose, subjective appetite ratings didn't change, and GI discomfort went up (Walker and colleagues, American Journal of Clinical Nutrition 2022).
One data point, but a real one. Cons: single pathway, dosed as a pre-meal capsule rather than an evening tool, and most of the research comes from the institute that owns the ingredient. More in what the bitter hops trials do and don't show.
4. Leanbean, 14/25
3,000 mg glucomannan per full 6-capsule serving, the top of the studied range, caffeine-free, about $2.00 a serving. The glucomannan dose is the strongest in the set. Cons: 6 capsules is a lot to swallow before a session, the extras (40 mg green coffee, 50 mg acai) sit below useful doses, and the money-back guarantee only covers the 4-bottle bundle.
5. Lipozene, 12/25
1,500 mg glucomannan, nothing else, about $1.00 a serving. Honest and cheap. Cons: one ingredient, one pathway, and glucomannan works by displacing food more than by switching hunger off. A cheaper route to the same fiber than Leanbean if that's all you want.
What to skip for this job
Hydroxycut Hardcore carries 265 mg of caffeine a serving and PhenQ hides its caffeine dose in a blend. The munchies are an evening problem. A stimulant trades a snacking problem for a sleep problem, and short sleep has its own appetite cost. Our ranking of stimulant-free appetite suppressants covers that side of the aisle.
Chromium on its own is a reasonable ingredient pointed at a different target: the trials recruited carb cravers, and cannabis eating isn't carb-specific. The dose math is in our chromium write-up.
Who should pick what
If you want one thing to drink before the session that covers several pathways and adds no stimulant, the Ozzi drink. If you want to spend almost nothing, two servings of psyllium an hour before. If your munchies hit around a meal rather than a session, Calocurb's pre-meal timing fits. If you like the idea of a strip, know you're buying the format, not the dose. If you're drug tested, skip THCV outright.
And the unglamorous answer still works best: decide what's in the bowl before you start. We ranked the healthy munchies snacks by what trials found people ate next. The rest of the field lives in our appetite suppressant category.

FAQ
What is the best anti-munchies supplement?
No product has been tested against cannabis-driven eating, so we rank on what can be checked: pathway coverage, dose disclosure, evidence per ingredient, price and timing fit. On that rubric the Ozzi V2 Crave Crusher scores highest at 21 out of 25, mainly because it is a caffeine-free drink with every dose printed that you take before the session. Ozzi sponsors this site; its cons are listed on the page.
Do munchies blocker strips work?
Munchies blocker strips are not proven to work. Munchies Strip lists 10 mg saffron extract and 75 mcg chromium per strip. The saffron trial that reduced snacking used 176.5 mg a day for 8 weeks, and the chromium trial that measured food intake used a far higher dose. The stimulant-free, before-the-session format is sensible; the doses are small.
Does THCV stop the munchies?
No human trial has measured it. Swallowed THCV took a median of 3.8 to 5 hours to peak in the blood in a pharmacokinetic study, while cannabis eating starts in the first 30 minutes. In a dosing study, 78 of 79 urine screens 8 hours after active THCV tested positive for THC.
When should I take something for the munchies?
The time to take something for the munchies is before the session, not during. Human data shows the extra eating lands in the first 30 minutes of snack access and runs through the brain rather than gut hormones, so anything meant to help has to already be in your system.
